Outdoors & Nature at Bliss Farm

Hiking

We are so fortunate and grateful that we found our bliss here in the breathtaking mountains of WNC. We are located right in the Pisgah National Forest. We have several hiking trails for you to explore and connect with nature, right here on the property. Don't forget the phenomenal hiking trails in Pisgah National Forest, right around the corner!  This area features more than 15 waterfalls, right in our neighborhood, Big Ivy! Bliss Farm is the ultimate place to spend time with mother nature and experience all she has to offer.

Douglas Falls

A stunning 70 foot waterfall nestled deep in Pisgah National Forest, with a very short hike.

The trail head is a 50 minute drive from Bliss with the last 8.8 miles on a slow going, well maintained gravel Forest Service Road. The drive up offers beautiful scenes of the diversity of the mountains and multiple ecosystems with the 4,300 foot elevation gain. Expect it to be 10-20 degrees cooler up there! The short half mile hike to the falls winds through old growth trees and a lush forest ecosystem.

Craggy Gardens Picnic Area or Craggy Pinnacle Trail (dependent on the road being open)

The trail head to the Picnic Area is 30 minutes from Bliss and a few minutes further to the Pinnacle Trail and Visitor’s Center. The Picnic Area is usually less popular.

Each hike is about 1.5 mile round trip and moderately difficult. This area of the Blue Ridge Parkway offers spectacular 360 degree views, rocky outcrops and grassy balds. Abundant rhododendrons offer a stunning show of blossoms around mid-June.

Staire Creek/Walker Creek Loop Trail

The trail head is 7 minutes from Bliss. The loop is considered difficult and 4.5 miles roundtrip.

Located in the remarkable Big Ivy area of Pisgah National Forest. This loop trail follows a bold mountain creek up and then another back down through old growth forest carpeted in rich cove plant species. This is one of the best places to view spring ephemrals in the entire region; usually during the month of May.

Guided Hikes

We offer guided hikes in the bordering Pisgah National Forest and Big Ivy region. We partner with incredible local experts whose knowledge spans from local flora and fauna, natural medicine and herbs located in environment, and overall knowledge and understanding of the general area. Transportation is not included.

How to Book

Guided hikes are available for booking at check out, as a part of our Outdoors Package. Please be sure to let us know your preferred date and time when making your reservation. We will reach out to you once your reservation is confirmed to arrange your itinerary.
