This past August, world-renowned yoga retreat leaders Nathalie and Tara of Great Abiding Yoga led a very special yoga and meditation weekend at Bliss Farm and Retreat that celebrated the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina.
Nathalie and Tara spend their lives traveling the world and hosting yoga retreats in truly beautiful oases, but they’ve both chosen to make homes in Asheville and are forever enchanted by the natural beauty of the region. They designed this yoga retreat to offer attendees the exhilarating and immersive experience of practicing yoga and meditation surrounded by the beauty of Appalachia during the peak of summer.
August is an incredible time of year at the retreat center as nature reaches its fullest expressions and fosters true healing connections for yoga and meditation practitioners. Hugged by mountain views, the flowery grounds, gardens, and farm teem with life in the summertime. Tara and Nathalie led their retreat group to reconnect with nature and themselves in this very purposeful setting and season.
Outdoor yoga and meditation sessions on our yoga deck were accompanied by live music and poetry. Nathalie and Tara offered other activities, too, like guided journaling and discussion, optional farm tours, group hikes, and plenty of free time to explore, rest, and heal on the retreat grounds.
Nourishing the Yoga Retreat Experience with Appalachian-Grown Foods
Organic, farm-to-table meals nourished our yogi guests as they reconnected with their bodies and minds, pursued mountain adventures, and consciously built community. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options were available at all times to retreat attendees who made prior arrangements with our staff. If you’re familiar with the Bliss team, you know that we’re genuinely passionate about preparing foods mindfully and offering it in love. We thoroughly enjoy taking care of our guests and we know that physical movement and deep reflection are hard work that must be fueled with nutrient-rich, delicious foods.

After enjoying meals together each night, the dining patio and lounge became a hub for the group to savor good wine and conversation under the fading sun or enjoy solitary reflection in one of the many cozy corners.
