Tips for Planning the Ultimate Retreat

The ancient mountains surrounding Bliss Farm & Retreat are famous for offering peace, restoration, and inspiration, making them the perfect backdrop for retreats facilitated here. If you have a vision to lead a retreat hugged by these mountains in a peaceful, holistic setting, our center may be the perfect fit.

We love the art of hosting mindful retreats, and we understand the meticulous planning and intention that goes into creating an immersive, weekend-long experience. Here are some helpful pointers for manifesting the perfect retreat.

Be specific in your programming

We’ve hosted retreats with a range of focuses including yoga, meditation, writing, horseback riding, holistic health, and programs designed specifically for men or women. As you design the itinerary for your retreat, envision the flow of your days, including when you will need breaks. The theme of your retreat will largely dictate its content and structure, but it may be helpful to offer contrasting experiences for mind, body and soul throughout the experience. Consider planning physical activities in addition to group discussions or studies. At Bliss Farm and Retreat, we offer supplementary extras to your programming, including in-house yoga classes, hiking excursions, and campfires, as well as massage, tantric healing, reiki, shaman energy clearing ceremonies, and massage treatments.

Take a Tour + Meet the Hosts

Once you have a good sense of your retreat’s focus and schedule, you’ll be ready to do some “in the field” research and visit potential retreat centers. Pay special attention to lodgings, amenities, meal options, and how the facilities will integrate with your program offerings.

At Bliss Farm and Retreat, we offer weekly tours to retreat leaders. Our beautiful grounds are home to an organic farm, luxury cabins, a bed and breakfast, and several “bell tents.” There are accommodations for 17 people, or up to 24 for those who share a queen-sized bed (perfect for couples, mother/daughter trips, etc.).  We offer healthful, organic meals throughout the retreats we host, and are happy to cater to dietary restrictions.

Be Clear in Your Budget

Make sure you know all of the costs associated with the retreat you’re leading, including the accommodations, meals, extra classes, services, and amenities. Ask for our Retreat Information Packet, which clearly lays out all of the expenses of the services and accommodations we offer.

Once you have a clear understanding of how much your retreat will cost to run, you can create a pricing structure for your attendees. Make sure you understand your clientele’s budget. At Bliss, we offer three different levels of accommodations, ranging from private rooms to dorm-style “glamping.”

Promote with Passion

Now that you’ve set your intention, designed a schedule, found an incredible facility, and created a pricing structure for your retreat, you’re ready to start promoting this transformational experience! Highlight your program, values, and the unique offerings Bliss Farm and Retreat brings to the experience.

If you are already a yoga instructor, healer, workshop facilitator, or teacher of any kind, you’ll no doubt be using your existing channels and classes to get the word out. Hand out flyers and make announcements at your classes. Use social media to spread the word. Network with like-minded instructors and organizations. Be accessible by phone and email to field questions and help people to register. The buzz you generate will ripple out into your community, and you will attract the attendees for whom you’ve built this retreat!

Before you know it, the retreat date will be here. Your research, planning, and organizing will pay off in the form of a deeply meaningful weekend, for you and your attendees. We can’t wait to share this time with you, and to help you bring your dreams to life!
