In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for an exceptional 2019 retreat season and reflect on what it means to serve others in the work that we do at Bliss Farm and Retreat.
Our Philosophy of Service at Bliss Farm and Retreat
Service for us means treating each guest like our favorite family member. We aim for our guests to fall in love with the accommodations and physical beauty of Bliss, and more importantly, to feel at home, free, and comfortable. We love providing space for true relaxation, inspiration and expansion. And while great service extends beyond amazing hospitality, that is certainly a quality that’s extremely important to us, and we hope to give each guest personalized care from the moment they arrive, with concierge service, luggage delivery, and the staff’s undivided attention.
To us, service is also about connection and showing up as our best selves emotionally and spiritually. Growing, preparing, and offering food to our guests is a form of service and a commitment to our guests' wellbeing. Whenever we host therapeutic retreats that are healing in nature, we relish in the ample opportunities for our team to practice our values and definition of service. We’re devoted to providing just the right environment, nourishment, and amenities to help folks heal, find strength, and live fully. Showing up in community and loving ourselves are at the heart of our definition of service.
We hire people who are as dedicated as us, and who share similar passions and values. We take great care of who we hire in order to provide that truly special experience for each of our guests and also because the nature of this work is so intimate. We strive to find the perfect people to join our "bliss family.” We are all a very tight knit team.
Serving the Greater Community
In addition to providing a dedicated service at Bliss Farm and Retreat, Kelly and Frank are also very involved in their local community. They love supporting Asheville’s small businesses and local nonprofits. Kelly is involved with Asheville Affiliates.
They’re also generous with their employees and greater “Bliss” community, offering time, counsel, resources, and more. When Veronika, their events manager, had to buy a new car, they drove 2 hours to Tennessee to pick up the car with her and were super supportive, offering valuable guidance and advice. Another Bliss staff member, Emma, moved out of North Carolina but has kept in touch with Kelly & Frank, who continue to provide career advice and support from afar, and recently, Frank helped their gardener build stairs for her new house.
All in all, our service philosophy is about showing that we care through our actions. We try to demonstrate our desire to help and support our guests, one another, and the larger communities that we belong to as often as we can. We’re grateful for the many opportunities to do so, and wish you all a most warm and delightful holiday this week.
In gratitude,
The Bliss Family
