From yoga to healing retreats to private moments with our team, the theme this year could be encapsulated by one word: growth.
We started off 2019 much like we intend to start 2020: in hibernation. We made plans and envisioned a successful year ahead. Then, in late January, we took a much needed restorative journey to Costa Rica and Panama. Central America had us dreaming about opening up a satellite, tropical Bliss location….
In March, the retreat center and farm were graced with four playful and healthy baby goats and we’ve had so much fun raising and getting to know Cilantro, Lime, Pepe, and Poppi.
Before the 2019 retreat season officially started, we created new outdoor bathrooms for guests staying in our bell tents, and we completed our new dining deck. And, in order to accommodate a growing roster of retreats, we expanded the Bliss family to include Veronika, our indispensable Event Manager, wonderful retreat staff members Rebecca and Nicolina, our Sou-Chef, Josh (aka the Sultan of Saute), and valets Jeromy and Travis. Without this talented, hard-working, and fun-loving team, we couldn’t have made this year the success that it was!
We were honored to be featured in Capitol At Play in May, alongside the other healing and yoga retreat centers of the region. The publication coincided with “peak retreat season,” and we had a blast welcoming new and returning retreat leaders that spanned the realms of yoga, meditation, therapy, and language arts. We were deeply honored to work closely with the EOD Warrior Foundation on three separate military healing retreats. Learn more about those powerful experiences here.
Measuring the Year in Yumminess: 2019 Healing and Yoga Retreat Center Menu Highlights
A big part of the Bliss Farm and Retreat experience is eating nourishing, holistic foods that support the spiritual and physical work retreat attendees and leaders do here. Much of our produce and dairy is grown and harvested right on our grounds; it doesn’t get much more local or organic than that! Here’s a highlight reel of some of our most scrumptious meals:
soba noodle dish and with organic peanut slaw, gluten-free rice noodles,
and organic teriyaki chicken
vegan sushi rolls
jerk chicken in dried tomato wraps with fresh salsa
Tico Bowl with goat cheese
miso-glazed pork chops
Launching Bliss Design and Interiors
2019 was the year we took a leap with our much-anticipated interior design business. With our backgrounds in commercial construction, expanding our offerings to include interior design felt like a natural progression of the Bliss brand. We love to use our interior design skills to tell stories inspired by beloved cultures and landscapes. At Bliss, the decor expresses our love and admiration of the many beautiful places where we’ve experienced that much-desired state of bliss. And now...we get to share it with you!
Looking forward to 2020 at Bliss Farm and Retreat
We welcome the coming year with open arms and can say with confidence that we’ll continue to build on our successes. We’re so excited to learn, grow, and experience life with you at our yoga, meditation, and healing retreat center. Here’s to a healthy and exciting 2020!
